Dotson Rader is an author, journalist, television host, playwright, and one-time hustler who has published four novels and three works of non-fiction as well as the stage play God Looked Away about his close friendship with Tennessee Williams. He was also a contributing editor for Esquire, Parade Magazine, The New York Times, The Times of London, and many other publications.

Tym has been Dotson's close friend for over a decade, first meeting at a Broadway show. The Evening Tea started years later, after Dotson asked Tym to digitize his audio cassette collection.
